MONTE VISTA, Colo. - The U.S. Forest Service and Colorado Procurement Technical Assistance Center will hold two free workshops for area small businesses interested in providing services or supplies to the Rio Grande National Forest. Both workshops will occur on January 14, 2015 at the Rio Grande National Forest Supervisor’s Office located at 1803 West Highway 160, Monte Vista.

Small businesses currently doing business or wanting to do business with the Forest Service are invited to attend.

The first session will run from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and will be most useful for construction, supplies and service vendors.

The second session will run from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and will be most appropriate for wildland fire vendors.

Topics covered include how to register and do business with the Forest Service and tips on how to be responsive to the solicitation.  The session focusing on wildland fire will provide updates on regulations, contracts, the ordering and payment process, and types of services needed to support crews. 

Supplies, services and equipment needed to support the forest daily operations include certified weed—free grass hay providers, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, carpentry, earth moving, horizontal/vertical construction, etc.  Services and equipment needed to support firefighting include meals, copiers, heavy equipment, refrigerated trailers, ice, hardware, showers, toilets, hand-washing stations, and lodging.
