There is an opportunity to take a free, SKYWARN weather spotter training course provided by the National Weather Service office out of Pueblo, at the San Luis Valley Regional Emergency Operations Center located in the Alamosa County Services Building at 8900-A Independence Way, Alamosa, CO 81101.

This training will help you recognize and identify weather patterns based on visual cues, as well as enable you to provide direct feedback to the National Weather Service in order to reconcile predicted and actual weather patterns.  Anyone whose job places them at the mercy of unpredictable weather patterns is encouraged to attend this training as weather prediction in the San Luis Valley is far from being 100% reliable.

It will take place on Wednesday, May 4th at 6:00PM.  It will last 1.5 hours and is completely free.  If you or members of yours staff are interested in attending, please let me know in order to reflect an accurate head count.  Please feel free to distribute the attached flyer with anyone you feel can benefit from this training.

PLEASE NOTE: Mineral County - Creede will also be hosting a SKYWARN NWS Weather Spotter Training on Tuesday May 3rd, 2016 at 6:00 PM at the Mineral County Ambulance Barn at 800 Rio Grande Avenue
